GATE examinations 2021: 78 per cent of the registered candidates appear for the exams

According to reports, 78 per cent of the registered candidates have appeared for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) in India.

However, amidst the pandemic, the attendance has been similar to the previous years even though about 8.8 lakh candidates had registered for the test. Meanwhile, the GATE examinations were successfully conducted on February 6, 7, 13 and 14, at 616 centres in 200 cities, by strictly adhering to the social distancing norms. Furthermore, the results will be announced by March 22 and the scorecard will remain valid for three years from the date of issue.

This year, the GATE examinations are being conducted by IIT Bombay. In addition, the GATE exam authorities have introduced two new subjects that are Environmental Science and Engineering (ES) and Humanities and Social Science (XH). Earlier on January 17, 2021, GATE 2021 conducting body had uploaded the guidelines video that all the candidates must know about before they attend the examinations.

In view of the examinations, authorities informed that the aspirants clearing the GATE examinations will be eligible for taking admissions to MTech courses at the IITs institutes. Candidates can also apply to various PSU jobs through their GATE score. Moreover, the GATE 2021 examinations were reportedly conducted in two shifts where the first shift started from 9:20 am and ended at 12:30 am whereas the afternoon shift started from 3 pm to 6 pm.
