Mumbai University has recently announced the first merit list for its 2023 undergraduate admissions. Affiliated colleges such as ML Dahanukar College of Commerce, Rizvi College, Khalsa College, Sophia College for Women, and St. Xavier's College have taken the initiative to publish the merit list on their official websites.

The list also includes essential details such as registration numbers, names of selected candidates, their respective categories, attained scores, minimum required scores, and other relevant information.

This year, St. Xavier's College has set the cut-off percentage for Bachelor of Arts (BA) courses at 92.17 per cent. This is slightly higher than the previous year's requirement of 92 per cent. Similarly, RA Podar College has increased its cut-off for the regular BCom course from 92.35 per cent to 95.5 per cent.

HR College has witnessed a marginal decrease in the cut-off for BCom from 97 per cent to 96 per cent.

Professional degree programmes such as as BAF, BFM, and BBI across various streams at city colleges are also witnessing higher cut-off percentages and have maintained parity with previous year.

KC College has observed an increase in cut-offs for courses such as BAF from 93.5 per cent to 94 per cent and biotechnology from 85 per cent to 90 per cent. Ruia College has raised the cut-off for biotechnology from 92 per cent to 93 per cent.

To be included in the admission procedure, candidates must have a set of important documents. These documents are:

  • One passport-sized photograph
  • Signature
  • Aadhar Card
  • 'ABC' ID
  • Caste certificate
  • 10th and 12th-grade mark sheets
  • Special needs student certificate

Here is how you can view the merit list:

1. Visit the official website of their respective colleges affiliated with Mumbai University.

2. On the homepage, they should navigate to the designated link for the first merit list.

3. Clicking on this link will generate a PDF file on the screen containing the names of the selected candidates.

4. Students should carefully search for their own names within this list.

To secure their position in the first round of admissions, candidates must make the necessary fee payment by June 27. But, the process of document verification will take place until June 20.

Jai Hind and St. Xavier's College have conducted their own entrance exams with weighted scores of 50 per cent and 60 per cent, respectively. In contrast, NM and Mithibai College have assigned equal weight to board exam and Common University Entrance Test scores.

Additionally, autonomous colleges will be introducing four-year courses this year. They will be aligned with the guidelines of the National Education Policy (NEP). These colleges will also offer guidance on NEP implementation.

The previous year witnessed a lack of uniformity in the cut-off percentages of prestigious universities. Last year, non-state board school students were not initially included in the merit list. Some universities had decided to wait for non-HSC board results. Others reserved seats specifically for those students.

Consequently, there was a considerable disparity in cut-off scores. However, this year's merit list includes students from non-state boards, potentially influencing the overall cut-off percentages.
