The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has announced the launch of new professional certificate programs in software development and cybersecurity. The institute made the announcement on Monday, July 21. The programs will be fully online and will run for 12 months, and exams will be held in person and will be proctored on campus.

These courses are designed for working professionals, college teachers, and students in their third or fourth year of computer science or engineering. Applications for both programs are now open. The classes will begin on September 1, 2025.

Participants will complete three structured courses as part of the program. These will be taught by faculty members from IIT Bombay. The curriculum is industry-aligned and includes weekly practical labs. The labs are meant to give learners experience with real-world tools and work environments used in top tech companies.

According to IIT Bombay, the goal of the program is to help learners gain practical skills and prepare for careers in high-demand tech areas. The institute said that software development is driving change across various industries. It also said that India’s cybersecurity market is expected to grow to USD 10 billion by 2025.

The programs will help learners qualify for jobs such as full-stack developer, DevSecOps engineer, security analyst, and security architect.
