According to sources, Suman Pandit, an alumnus of IIT Bombay had recently organized an All India Robotics Competition (WitBlox Young Inventor 2020) in collaboration with Techfest in Mumbai.

The aim of the competition was to harness the creative ability among the young minds of this generation. Moreover, 1,200 young scientists from across the country participated in the competition and 20 inventors were selected as finalists to present their inventions at an online event which was held online because of the pandemic. In addition, two students were judged as the winners of this competition and won a cash prize of ₹50,000.

The finale was judged by Andrew Gaule (CEO of Aimava and Mentor at Royal Academy of Engineering, London), Dr Sujit Bhattacharya (Ex-Scientist, ISRO and Director at Cambridge Innovation Foundation), Subroto Sen (Ex-VP, Times of India and Unitech), and Rishabh Sinha (Founder of Techacks).

According to Pandit, the competition encouraged participants not only to conceive an idea in order to solve a given problem but also to execute it innovatively while making a prototype and a product.

On the other hand, students of IIT-Bombay have recently raised concerns over a proposal to develop an AI (artificial intelligence) model for the proctoring of students during their examinations. This basically means that during these tests, proctoring would enable automatic identification of cases of cheating in these examinations. However, concerns have been raised as the institute has allegedly given a nod to using the recorded videos of students before obtaining their consent, as per reports. Currently, the IIT-Bombay faculty invigilates exams through remote proctoring, requiring students to sit in front of the camera in full view.
