With the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) 'A' accreditation, Jai Hind College in Churchgate has become the first college in Mumbai to now get the prestigious United Stated (US)-based College Board. This, in turn, will now only allow the college to use the best global practices and resources, but will also help them to improve their academic standards and curriculum.
Jai Hind College had received an autonomous status in 2018 and had become the second college to get the status after St. Xaviers College in Fort. After this US-board affiliation, Jai Hind college can have the authority to conduct entrance tests like the Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) for admission in graduation courses.
Notably, Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) in Vile Parle is the only university in the city which is also a member of this alliance. Membership of the alliance is only through invitation.
Talking about the same, Principal of Jai Hind College Dr. Ashok Wadia said,
We are proud of the fact that we have been recognised by the US Board and will continue to strive for better in terms of curriculum and extracurricular activities. Being the principal of this college for more than a decade now, I can assure that the staff have always been dedicated to venture out into new spaces to give our students the best college experience. Discussions about keeping SAT as entrance test is still underway and we will confirm upon the same soon.
Currently, there are 30 Indian institutions and eight foreign universities, including The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Columbia University, University of Cambridge, and Yale-NUS College, that are members. In Maharashtra, Symbiosis International University and Flame University are a part of the group.
Notably, Jai HInd college boasts alumni like Priyanka Chopra, Vishal Dadlani, Aishwarya Rai, John Abraham, Kajal Agarwal, Supriya Sule etc.
