Clearing the air about the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE)-Main for admission to engineering colleges across the country, officials have stated that the process is likely to be held in the month of February instead of January.
Amidst the pandemic and the rising number of cases of coronavirus, authorities have been contemplating holding the admissions. However, an official notification with regards to the date of the examinations is expected soon. Moreover, the application process is to start next month.
JEE-Main is the national level competitive test for admission to several undergraduate engineering and architecture courses, including the eligibility test for the JEE-Advanced for admission to the IITs which is conducted twice a year – January and April.
Meanwhile, Education Minister, Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal had earlier informed the public that the JEE Main entrance examinations will now be conducted in more regional languages from next year.
The Joint Admission Board (JAB) conducts the JEE examination at the national level for admission in IITs. In the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020), under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, education in mother tongue has been given priority. Pokhriyal stated that the decision was made with regards to a similar sentiment.
On the other hand, speaking about the schedule of class 10 and 12 examinations, board secretary Anurag Tripathi on Sunday, November 22, stated that the practical examinations will be held between January 1 to February 8, 2021. Furthermore, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) board secretary Tripathi stated added the exact dates for the exams will be announced soon.
