For the implementation and fulfillment of the demands of junior college teachers, the Maharashtra State Junior College Teachers' Union is planning to hold agitations in five phases across the state. In the fourth phase, on February 2, all the junior colleges in the state will be kept closed and will do jail bharo protest in front of all district education officials’ offices at Azad Maidan.

Will boycott HSC exams

If the government does not take action then the teachers’ union will make the agitation more intense and the boycott movement will continue until HSC Board examinations. The union has warned that if the said happens then the entire responsibility will be of the government.

What are the demands?

Teachers who joined after November 1, 2005, should be entitled to an old pension scheme, giving recognition and salary to the teachers since 2012, giving grants to non-aided teachers, giving grants to teachers who teach information technology and apply seventh-pay commission. Along with these, 32 other demands were given to the government, said Anil Deshmukh, President, Junior College Teachers Federation.
