As per reports, on Monday, December 14, the state common entrance test (CET) cell issued a notification extending the pre-admission process for all the professional courses to the end of December.

Moreover, this is applicable to all undergraduate and postgraduate courses which include engineering, pharmacy, architecture and management courses. As per the notification, the registration process for admissions to BTech courses in state institutes has been extended till December 22 instead of the original date of December 15. On the other hand, registrations for BArch and MBA/MMS courses have been extended from December 13 to December 20.

Earlier, the CET had announced revised dates for Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT CET 2020) as well. This came after multiple universities complained that the dates clashed with the dates of the final-year examinations. In particular, there was a demand for postponement of entrance examinations for postgraduate courses and entrance examinations for physical education degree courses. However, the Supreme Court had refused to cancel the MHT CET for admission to engineering courses on a plea filed by two students who demanded that admissions this year be conducted based on the score of their Class 12 examinations in view of the pandemic.

In recent developments, however, many institutions are concerned about the academic time left for the incoming batch in view of the delays. As a result of the registration process getting delayed as the CET is yet to announce the results of the common entrance examinations, the academic year of the students are bound to get jeopardized.
