State conducts exams for Medical Students amidst the coronavirus outbreak

Cabinet Minister Amit Deshmukh informed that Maharashtra University of Health Sciences has become the first university in the state to conduct examinations amidst the pandemic and have given priority to the safety of students in these times.

Maharashtra government recently held examinations of some medical departments in the state. Amidst the coronavirus outbreak and the lockdown, the authorities took necessary steps to ensure safety, where the exams were monitored through CCTV.

Written examinations of other postgraduate medical faculties (Dental, Ayurvedic, Unani, Homeopathy, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Audiology Speech Therapy) were conducted from August 17-23, 2020 at 115 centres in the state. More than 2,400 students had applied for the exam and the average attendance of students was approximately 90 per cent.

The practical examination of these students will be held between August 24 to September 24, 2020.

Sharing more information regarding the same, Medical Education Minister, Amit Deshmukh said that with this move Maharashtra University of Health Sciences has become the first university in the state to conduct examinations by giving priority to the safety of students during the pandemic.

The written examination for the students of postgraduate medical faculties will be held from August 25-31, 2020 and the practical examination will be held from September 2-10, 2020.

Around 2,204 students of a postgraduate degree, postgraduate diploma and super speciality medical faculty will appear for the examinations which will be conducted across 30 centres.

The written examinations for the final year undergraduate and first-year MBBS students of all medical health sciences will be conducted between September 8 to October 3, 2020, and the practical examination will be conducted from September 20 to October 31, 2020, for the science branch.

The exam will be held at 274 examination centres and 9688 students will attend for the exam. Minister Deshmukh confirmed said that the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences has completed all the preparations for these medical examinations.
