With a national lockdown in place, the MPSC examinations which were rescheduled for April 26 have been postponed again. The Preliminary and Subordinate Service exams for the Maharashtra Public Service Commission were scheduled to happen on April 26 and May 10 respectively. But amid the lockdown, the exams have been indefinitely postponed.

The Commission had released a circular notifying the applicants about the same. The new dates for the MPSC exams will soon be declared on the Board's official website.

Once the dates for the rescheduled exams are declared, the candidates will receive an SMS on the number registered to the Commission by them.

Earlier, MPSC State Service Prelims Exam was scheduled April 5, whereas MPSC Subordinate Exam was supposed to be held on May 3. 

The MPSC had invited applications for the recruitment of State Service Posts such as:

  • Assistant State Tax Commissioner
  • Deputy Chief Executive Officer
  • Assistant Commissioner/ Project Officer
  • Deputy Education Officer
  • Maharashtra Education Department, Class Officer
  • Deputy Superintendent, Land Record,
  • Deputy Superintendent, State Excise Fee,
  • Naib Tehsildar

The applications were invited from 28 February to 19 March.

The commission had also published the notification to fill 806 vacancies such as Police Sub Inspector (PSI) Group B, Assistant Section Officer (ASO) Group-B and State Tax Inspector (STI) Group-B under Subordinate Service Exam 2020.

Other than the MPSC exams, the public universities will be holding their summer exams for 2020 after the lockdown is over. While the schedule for the same hasn't been specified, Maharashtra Higher and Technical Education Minister Uday Samant cleared the air about the exams and said that 'the exams have just been postponed, not cancelled.'

On the other hand, the exams for CBSE schools and junior colleges barring Class X and XII have been cancelled. Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) had announced that all the students in classes I to VIII will be promoted to the next class without any examination. Alongside, all the students in class IX and XI will be promoted on the basis of their school-based assessments, projects, and periodic tests held before schools were shut.
