The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai, recently revealed its plans to establish new campuses not only within India but also in foreign countries. The decision comes as part of TISS's vision to broaden its reach.

The move came after the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT Madras) successfully opened a campus in Tanzania. TISS is also exploring opportunities beyond campuses.

TISS officials also had discussions with the Bhutanese government. Moreover, there has been interest from countries in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to host a TISS campus.

The expansion plans align closely with the implementation of the New Education Policy (NEP). This policy seeks to introduce advanced social science courses and foster interdisciplinary learning.

Furthermore, TISS recently signed student exchange agreements with Monash University in Australia and Queen Mary University in London. These partnerships will enable students to benefit from global exposure.

TISS already has a strong presence with four campuses in Mumbai, one in Tuljapur, Maharashtra, and one each in Hyderabad and Guwahati. The focus of the expansion lies in strengthening non-Mumbai campuses to cater to NEP guidelines and regional demands.

TISS is a premier institution for social sciences in India. Its undergraduate programmes have high demand and a competitive admissions process. With the new NEP-compliant skill education programme set to be introduced, admissions for this course will commence in the upcoming academic year.
