In comparison to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) students, the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) students scored fewer marks which has raised concerns amongst the students and their parents. The students are worried that due to the stern marking system by the state board, they might not be able to secure admissions in their desired colleges.

However, in order to counter the issue raised by the state board applicants, MSBSHSE has extended the number of vacant seats in colleges by approving an extension. Alongside, the Maharashtra State Board has also asked the colleges to close the admission procedure for minority quota students and instead provide seats under open category.
