For people who are working and want to pursue higher education, distance learning has acted as a savior. One can now pursue courses like Masters in Business Administration (MBA) in distance mode. Accordingly, the University of Mumbai's (MU) distance education wing, The Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL), has also started registrations for admissions to the 2021-22 batch.
However, it will be the first time they will hold an entrance exam for their newly launched MBA and MMS (Master of Management Studies) program. Vinod Malale, Deputy Registrar (public relations), MU, while commenting on the same, said that IDOL has got permissions for MBA/MMS in the distance mode from All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and University Grants Commission (UGC). They have approved of 720 seats.
It is the first time that MU has got recognition for its MBA course, and are soon planning to announce the exam dates for the entrance exams.
The other two new approved courses are Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) Computer Science and Masters in Art (MA) Geography. They are seeing this as a positive trend and are already receiving inquires for the same, said Malale. Apart from these, they are planning to offer three undergraduate courses like BMS (Bachelor in Management Studies), BMM (Bachelor in Mass Media) and BAF (B.Com in Accounting and Finance) in physical as well as online mode.
IDOL is also planning to offer certificate programs. It will also include a few courses in collaboration with the Bombay Stock Exchange and MU’s department of journalism.
