The Mumbai University has decided to extend its date of admissions till September 10.

This comes after several colleges have been unable to fill the seats even after declaring the fourth list. MU had earlier released the fourth merit list for undergraduate degree courses on August 24.

As per reports, this year, colleges have struggled to fill the seats as a result of the students being unable to pay fees. The mid-level colleges are especially struggling to make ends meet. Even the colleges that usually close the admission process after the first round has run admission counters till the fourth list this year.

However, some colleges did not have any seats vacant for the aspiring students while several other colleges witnessed higher cut-offs than the previous merit list which was announced last week. For some colleges, this was not the fourth merit list but simply the second round of admission by the Mumbai University for the students who might have missed out the first round. The session for most colleges would start from September 2, 2020.

In the past, back in the first week of August, degree colleges released their first merit list as a part of the Mumbai University’s admission process for first-year undergraduate courses. The cut-offs for the courses seemed to have increased marginally this year.
