Mumbai University to conduct final-year exams online amidst rising number of COVID-19 cases

The varsity further announced that the examination will be conducted at the college level with multiple choice questions for traditional courses and descriptive questions for the vocational courses.

On Wednesday, March 24, the University of Mumbai (MU) informed that it is to conduct the examinations for the final-semester online.

Moreover, the varsity announced that the examination will be conducted at the college level with multiple choice questions for traditional courses and descriptive questions for the vocational courses. 

Meanwhile, the examination for the vocational courses will be of 80 marks. There will be 40 marks for multiple-choice questions and 40 marks for writing answers to descriptive questions. As per the circular, students will be given two hours for this.

According to reports, the final or Semester 6 regular and backlog theory exams of UG courses under Arts, Commerce and Science will be conducted from May 6 to 21. The Semester 1 to 4 regular and backlog exams will be conducted from April 15 to May 5. The Semester 5 backlog exams will be conducted from May 24 to June 2, 2021.

For management courses, the Semester 3 backlog and Semester 4 regular and backlog theory exams will be conducted from May 3 to 20. Moreover, degree colleges have been instructed to conduct practical, project and viva-voce exams from April 5 to 15, 2021 via Zoom app, Google Meet, Skype or via telephone, if necessary.

The final-semester examinations usually take place in the month of April, however, with the spike in cases of coronavirus, they have been pushed to May for now. Due to the rise in COVID-19 cases, and subsequent restrictions in several places, colleges have been expecting MU to announce online examinations.
