Mumbai - Mumbai University has issued a degree to a student with her name spelt wrong. In an embarrassing goof-up, the student’s surname has been translated from ‘Kite’ to ‘Patang’ in Marathi.

The matter came to light when Nikita Kite, a BMM student from Ramanarain Ruia College, tweeted a picture of her degree to university's official handle. Officials blamed the error on a software that the examination house uses to print the degree.

Nikita received her graduation degree on 25 February, after noticing the blunder she tweeted keeping varsity officials and State Education Minister Vinod Tawde in the loop. Finally, she has received the revised degree with the proper name which she shared on twitter.
