Mumbai University has received a strong international response for its newly introduced PhD programmes. According to the university, hundreds of applications have been received from students across multiple countries, reflecting growing interest in research opportunities at the institution.
The initiative is part of Mumbai University’s broader plan to strengthen its position as a global research hub and improve its international ranking.
The university has also introduced a streamlined admission process for foreign scholars, including a single-window system for applications, eligibility checks, and interviews. Officials said the move is expected to make research admissions more accessible and efficient for international candidates.
Most applications have come from disciplines such as business management, education, commerce, and emerging interdisciplinary fields. The university said the response highlights its rising global visibility and efforts to expand research-driven education.
Authorities added that the initiative is aligned with efforts to enhance international collaboration, attract global talent, and build a stronger research ecosystem in the coming years.
