The University of Mumbai has made a jump of 76% in the 2025 QS Asia University Rankings. It has moved up from the 291-300 range to 245th place. The university saw gains in several performance areas, with an increase in reputation and global presence.

These parameters saw an increase:

Academics: One of the standout improvements was in academic reputation. The university's regional standing in South Asia rose from 67th to 52nd. This improvement is attributed to growing recognition across the academic community and within the region.

Research: Research productivity also saw an increase. The university’s "Papers per Faculty" score climbed from 75.3 to 90.6, marking a 20% increase in this metric. This shows higher research activity and faculty participation in scholarly activities.

Employability: Employer reputation has also improved. The score rose from 31.8 to 64.1, showing better ties with industries and higher employability for recent graduates. The academic reputation score doubled, increasing from 17.6 to 34.6.

Globalisation: Internationalisation was another area of strong performance. The international student ratio saw a big increase, moving from 10.4 to 32.6. This shows the University of Mumbai’s appeal to students from diverse backgrounds. International research collaborations expanded as well, with the International Research Network score growing from 7.9 to 21.3. The ratio of international faculty rose from 4.0 to 9.1, while the faculty-student ratio improved from 7.7 to 14.2.

In total, Mumbai University achieved improvements in nine of the ten parameters used by QS to score universities. The highest gain was in the International Research Network category. It was because of international collaborations and joint research ventures with institutions around the world.

As per reports, the university further aims to improve the "Citations per Paper" score.
