Uday Samant directs officials to expedite work on the sub-center in Ratnagiri

A review meeting regarding the same was held at the ministry on Tuesday. Present at the same were Ratnagiri Collector B. N. Patil, Kavikulguru Kalidas Sanskrit University Vice Chancellor Srinivas Varkhedi, and other concerned officers.

Maharashtra State Higher and Technical Education Minister, Uday Samant, on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, directed the officials to expedite the work of the sub-center by fulfilling the necessary requirements. As per reports, he has asked the department to start the sub-center in Ratnagiri under the Kavikulguru Kalidas Sanskrit University in Ramtek, Nagpur.

A review meeting regarding the same was held at the ministry on Tuesday.  Present at the same were Ratnagiri Collector B. N. Patil, Kavikulguru Kalidas Sanskrit University Vice Chancellor Srinivas Varkhedi, and other concerned officers.

Minister Samant also said that the land required for the project will be made available soon and the work at the sub-centre should be started immediately. In order to make Ratnagiri sub-center self-sufficient, the government will start a Bachelor of Science (BSc) Hospitality Studies course along with the Tourism Development Corporation. This is said to benefit the individuals and organizations working in the tourism sector in Ratnagiri and nearby areas. Moreover, the course will also provide employment to the locals and create a trained manpower.

Besides the above-mentioned course, the government plans to offer other courses like MA in Sanskrit, Yoga, Astrology, BA in Yoga, BCCA Diploma in Sanskrit, Yoga, Vastushastra, among many others. These will begin in the academic year 2021-22. Moreover, the course in 2022-23 would include BSc in Hospitality Studies, BBA, BA in Civil Services and other Skill Development Oriented Courses.

Meanwhile, the government of Maharashtra recently decided to set up a Marathi Bhasha Bhavan in Navi Mumbai's Airoli area. To implement the project, CIDCO handed over 3000sqm land to the department. State Minister for the Marathi Language, Subhash Desai, accepted the papers from CIDCO, and the proposed sub-centre is said to have various amenities like grand hall, library, children's area, offices, etc.
