On Wednesday, August 4, Minister of Higher and Technical Education Uday Samant stated that there will be no common entrance tests (CET) for admissions to non-professional courses across state universities and affiliated colleges.
Moreover, admissions will take place as per the HSC results acquired by the students. Earlier on August 3, the Maharashtra state board had declared the results of class 12 based on internal assessments by schools and the three-year performance of students. In addition, the CBSE and ICSE boards have also declared class 12 results.
According to reports, on Wednesday, a meeting was held with vice-chancellors of all state universities where it was unanimously decided that no CET should be conducted for admissions to non-professional courses.
In the past, thousands of students had complained that they were not able to access their class 10 results as the website had gone down during the process. In view of the situation, the board had provided the option of multiple websites so that the students can access the HSC results smoothly.
Earlier, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, and the rise in coronavirus cases, the HSC class 12 examinations were not conducted this year. The examinations were previously to be conducted from April 23 till May 29 which were later postponed. However, in view of the second COVID-19 wave, and the possible third wave, the state soon announced the cancellation of HSC examinations. Therefore, the results this year have been evaluated based on an alternative form of assessment.
