In a good news for aspiring doctors and other students, three prominent medical institutions in Maharashtra have decided to freeze tuition for the upcoming academic year 2024-2025. Maharashtra’s Fee Regulating Authority (FRA) revealed last month that nearly 300 colleges have opted for “no upward revision” of fees.

Kashibai Navale Medical College in Pune, one of the state’s most expensive colleges, has chosen not to increase its fees. Last year, it increased its charge from INR 13.91 lakh to INR 14.23 lakh. The college has now chosen to maintain a fee of INR 14.23 lakh for MBBS and INR 12.94 lakh for MD/MS.

The second and third medical colleges that have decided not to revise their MD/MS fees are Ashwini Rural Medical College in Solapur and the Postgraduate Institute of Swasthiyog Pratishthan, Miraj.

In pharmacy, 78 institutions have chosen not to change their Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) course fees. Maharashtra has seen a rapid increase in the number of pharmacy institutions in the past few years. The state has 453 pharma institutes, of which only 57 were established in the last year.

Four dental colleges have also decided to keep their fees stable, which ranges. This includes Yogita Dental College in Ratnagiri, KBH Dental College in Nashik, the Maharashtra Institute of Dental Science and Research in Latur, and SMBT Dental College in Ahmednagar.

As far as engineering colleges are concerned, 27 technical institutes have requested to keep their Master of Engineering (ME) programme prices unchanged. Additionally, 61 engineering colleges and 45 B-schools in the state will not be changing their fees for BE and MBA programmes, respectively.
