Against the backdrop of the coronavirus, the online course that was supposed to be launched by the Maharashtra Education Department is suffering from ambiguity as the admission process is still in a deadlock with the department not hearing any update from the state government.

While giving interim stay to the implementation of the Maratha reservation, the Supreme Court had earlier ordered that the reservation should not be implemented in the admission process this year. At that time, the first round of class 11 admission had taken place. However, before the second round, the department halted the admission process. The question arose as to when the process would start or whether the first round of admission would be maintained.

Although the process has been halted for almost a month, the picture of the admission process is still not clear. Therefore, at present, the Department of Education is considering providing online study facility for 11th standard students.

The most sought after or compulsory subjects in Science, Commerce, Arts will be made available online. Junior college teachers will take up this task. Moreover, students will be able to start their studies in the preferred branch even if they are not admitted to any college. In addition, they will be able to study in more than one branch. It will also make it easier for students to decide which subjects they like at the time of the actual admission process.
