Several parents took to Twitter demanding education for their children as several states banned the online learning of young students. Maharashtra happens to be one of those states that have banned live classrooms for the pre-primary section up to class two. However, schools have been encouraged to send educational content home.
Many have argued that virtual learning in young kids can provide to be harmful as it exposes children to the screen for long hours which can be damaging to a young child’s mind. However, some have argued that prolonged distance from the process of learning can disrupt the growth of a child.
With the hashtag right to learn, Netizens have been posting messages of learning all across Twitter.

Every child has the ability to learn differently and the choice of HOW should be given, not imposed! My child was just about getting back to a normal routine and most importantly LEARNING. It's something that she could relate to in this already disrupted situation. #righttolearn pic.twitter.com/2RhHrcyCDc

Several educational institutions in Mumbai have already resumed online classes that are to be conducted by the teachers. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had earlier given a nod to the SOP submitted by the education department. As per the SOP, the department had stated that no online classes were to be conducted for up to class two students. Along with this, schools are also said to resume in July in the COVID-19 free areas. The decision was taken in a video conference which was also attended by Varsha Gaikwad.
However, due to the contagious nature of the coronavirus, putting young students at risk can be avoided. Several parents across the country seem hesitant about sending their children back to school considering the risk factors. Therefore, it will be crucial to see how schools maintain social distancing protocols to safeguard their students if educational institutions resume in all the states post the lockdown period. As of now, around 290 million school going students are pursuing education at over 1.4 million schools. As the educational institutes resume learning through the virtual world what remains to be seen is how this proves to be beneficial in the long run.
