Mumbai - The state government's decision to admit economically poor students to private schools under the Right To Education (RTE) Act is still not being implemented in spirit by several schools in the city. The BMC has now decided to take stringent action against such private bodies. As per statistics -
1,740 students were admitted in the year 2015-16
2,536 students were admitted in the year 2016-17
Totally, out of an estimated 20,000 students, only 4,276 students were admitted to private schools.
