The Maharashtra State Council of Examination (MSCE) has postponed the scholarship assessment for students of Class V and VIII to July 31 owing to rain and flood-like situation.

These examinations were earlier scheduled simultaneously across the state on July 20.

On Thursday, July 14, MSCE official stated that the heavy rain and flood situation in many parts of the state has disrupted the road connectivity in affected areas. Considering the larger interests of students, the scholarship examination has been postponed.

The hall tickets already issued to candidates will be considered valid for examinations slotted on the revised date. Every year, around six lakhs to seven lakhs students appear for the scholarship examination.

According to reports, four deaths were reported in Maharashtra owing to rain-related mishaps in the past 24 hours. This took the aggregate death toll to 97. Based on accounts, two of those deaths were from Nagpur on Thursday, July 14. Similarly, two of a family were crushed under boulders that came down a hillock in Vasai on Wednesday, July 13.
