After the new parking law was implemented, school buses were asked to park their buses at nearby BEST bus depots at a cost of ₹2000-₹3700 per month. This further increases the overhead cost by school buses and therefore on Friday, August 2, the School Bus Owners Association (SBOA) announced a hike by ₹200-₹300 for school bus fees.

As stated in the Times of India, The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) had told the tourist and school bus operators to park their buses at 27 BEST bus depots across the city which in turn would reduce the congestion on the road.

The SBOA further wrote to the BMC, requesting permission to park on school grounds and a response from the authorities is awaited. Notably, in the last week of July, BEST and BMC had announced that they will allow parking of two-wheelers, four-wheelers and heavy vehicles at bus depots in different brackets including three hours, six hours, 12 hours and more. They will also allow daily parking facility.
