As per reports, the Mumbai School of Economics and Public Policy (MSEPP) is touted get a centre for research and training in finance as a result of a donation of ₹5 crores.

The MSEPP, formerly known as the department of economics is an autonomous body of the University of Mumbai (MU). According to a report in Hindustan Times, AS Dave, an alumnus of the department and former chairperson of the Unit Trust of India has donated ₹5 crores to set up and develop a centre for research and training in finance.

This funding will help the centre to amalgamate with the industry and do research in the financial sector. Moreover, the centre will also offer certificate and diploma courses in the emerging fields of data science, quantitative finance and business analytics.

On the other hand, as the world tries to battle coronavirus, the research and development department of IIT Bombay has been conducting various projects in order to help people avert the crisis. So far, 13 types of research have received licenses from 22 companies. Some are currently in use in various hospitals, industries, some are available in the market whereas others are in the process of being permitted. The DuraProt mask has been created and is available on the e-commerce website. UVC based portable sanitation units have also been licensed.

Moreover, the research and development department of the IIT has created more than 40 projects on sanitation, medical equipment, personal safety, antiviral drugs, IT solutions, diagnostic approaches. Projects such as Handlebar Sanitizers, Surface Spray, Biodegradable Face Shields, Helmets for COVID-19 Patients, Ambu Bags for Respiratory Troubles, Advanced Ventilators, ICU Ventilators etc. have been processed after testing.
