On Tuesday, June 14, evening, Maharashtra school education minister, Varsha Gaikwad made a statement that schools should continue finding students in the age group of 6-14 years to bring them back to school.

Children are slated to begin returning to schools across Maharashtra from Wednesday, June 15 onwards. In light of this, the school Education Department will be focusing on bringing the "out-of-school" children back into academia. 

According to reports, on Tuesday, June 14, evening, Maharashtra school education minister, Varsha Gaikwad made a statement that schools should continue finding students in the age group of 6-14 years to bring them back to school. She was quoted elaborating on how with classes recommencing on Wednesday, this should be the first step for schools. Gaikwad believes that it is the school's responsibility to see to it that days in schools are happy, exciting and full of activities. In addition to this, she also recommended that the first day back should be celebrated. 

Based on accounts, she reiterated the State Council for Educational Research and Training's (SCERT) data that an aggregate of 25,204 children are out of school. Of these, 7,806 (4076 boys and 3730 girls) children never went to a school. Moreover, 17,397 (9008 boys and 8389 girls) children were considerably irregular with attendance in schools during the pandemic. 

Moreover, amidst the rise in COVID-19 cases being reported in the state the school education department made a Government Resolution (GR) listed the various precautions that need to be undertaken by the educational institution if a student tests positive for coronavirus
