Maharashtra School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad on Sunday, June 5, clarified that there won’t be any change in the plan of reopening schools after the summer break.
However, the state government would shortly be issuing a detailed SOP, bearing in mind students’ safety as pupils across all standards will attend offline classes after a gap of nearly two years.
While talking to reporters, Gaikwad noted that the school education department has been cautious throughout the pandemic. Whenever schools have opened in the past at places with lower COVID-19 cases, the required SOPs were put in place to ensure all precautions are taken. If required, a new set of SOPs will be declared in the future too.
The SOPs will also decide whether the mask mandate should be brought back into the offline mode.
In parts of Maharashtra, including Mumbai, schools have already begun while others are scheduled to reopen on June 9, 13 and 15.
