On Saturday, October 3, chaos ensued for the students appearing for the final-year examinations for the Mumbai University’s distance education as several students failed to receive a question paper on the link provided.

Moreover, as per reports, the official website would not open at 1 pm for several others delaying the process. As a result, several students visited the campus stating their worries about losing an academic year negating the purpose of conducting the examinations online.

Keeping in view the outbreak of the coronavirus, the State Government of Maharashtra had earlier requested the University Grants Commission to extend the deadline of conducting the exams by September 30, 2020, as the state was not prepared for it.

However, the paper pattern for this year’s includes MCQ based online examinations. In addition to it, it is touted to be a one-hour long paper of 50 marks. As for the practical exam and viva voice, these examinations would also be conducted online. This will be either through a phone call or on any of the available digital platforms.

On the other hand, officials had earlier decided to evaluate students from other years, on the basis of previous examinations and internal assessments. However, this format was not possible for IDOL students, therefore, the authorities had decided to conduct the examinations for both first and second-year students.
