A teacher at New Horizon Scholars School, Ghodbunder Road, who punished students for not bringing fees and made them write 'I will not forget to bring their fees tomorrow' 30 times, has been suspended.


It was published in the newspaper that students who forgot to bring fees were punished. Municipal Commissioner Abhijeet Bangar ordered an investigation. Accordingly, Education Officer Balasaheb Rakshe visited the school and inquired. The Right to Education Act prohibits mental or physical harm to students. Accordingly, it was clarified that the teacher should be investigated.


It was found that the class teacher of a batch of class VI had given such punishment. Accordingly, Rakshe informed that the school management has suspended the teacher till further enquiry. The school has been warned to prevent such incidents from happening in the future. Also, the Education Department is following up the inquiry.

In this regard, Municipal Commissioner Abhijit Bangar has said that it is wrong to create pressure on students in this way. Under the Right to Education Act, it is prohibited to create situations where school students face emotional or physical harassment. This situation has a serious impact on children's minds. However, schools need to be aware of this. The commissioner has clarified that care should be taken to ensure that such things do not happen.
