According to reports, teachers across Maharashtra have requested the state education department to give them the COVID-19 vaccine on a priority basis.
This comes ahead of the board examinations for standard 10th and 12th. Moreover, the teachers have stated that it is crucial for the teachers on supervision duty to be virus-free as a result of which it becomes important to get them vaccinated soon.
Meanwhile, as per the standard operating procedures (SOPs) released on the conduct of board exams, teachers and non-teaching staff have to be vaccinated before the conduct of board exams in the state. Similarly, staff members who will be on exam duty have to get negative RT-PCR report 48 hours before exams.
On the other hand, in recent developments, Maharashtra School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad has convened a meeting on Tuesday, April 6, in order to conduct discussions with regards to the board examinations for students of standard 10th and 12th amidst the rise in cases of coronavirus.
In the past, Gaikwad had informed the citizens that the board examinations will be held offline. However, with the state government initiating new stringent restrictions under the BreakTheChain campaign, there is a growing demand amongst students and parents for online examinations.
COVID-19 cases are at an all-time high in Maharashtra due to which the state government has decided to impose a lockdown in order to contain the spread of the disease. Meanwhile, the citizens have been asked to stay alert and leave homes only if necessary. Wearing a mask and maintaining social distance has been made mandatory at all times, failing which a fine will be imposed by the officials.
