Teachers to observe day long fast on 13 October

Mumbai- Mumbai teachers will stage a symbolic one day fast on 13 October to protest the lathi charge on their fraternity in Aurangabad recently, and the subsequent alleged government apathy to the issue. MLA Kapil Patil will join the day long fast at Parel's Kamgar Maidan.
The decision was taken at a meeting of city based associations including the Shikshak Bharati and Maharashtra Action Committee for Teachers Rights, led by MLA Kapil Patil. MLA Niranjan Davkhare, Amol Dhamdhere, Shikshak Bharti's president Ashok Belsare, Shishshak Karmachari Mahamandal's president S D Dongre, Tukaram Sawadekar, Convent school Sangh secretary Father Simon Lopice, Sanjay Patil, Rajendra Pradhan, Maruti Mhatare, Sudam Kumbhar were present at the meeting where the decision was taken. The meeting also called for revoction of the offences registered against 300 teachers in Aurangabad and cancellation of the GR dated 28 August 2016. Patil also called for an apology from state education minister Vinod Tawde who had appealed to teachers in the state to refrain from striking work, keeping students' interests in mind.
