Three more colleges added to the list of autonomous colleges in Mumbai

Thakur College of Engineering (TCE) and Thakur College of Science and Commerce (TCSC) in Kandivli were granted autonomy last month while DJ Sanghvi College of Engineering (DJSCE) in Vile Parle was granted autonomy last week.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) granted autonomous status to three more colleges in Mumbai where they will be allowed to frame their curriculum, revise fee structure, introduce new courses and conduct examination without the intervention of Mumbai University.

Thakur College of Engineering (TCE) and Thakur College of Science and Commerce (TCSC) in Kandivli along with DJ Sanghvi College of Engineering (DJSCE) in Vile Parle were granted the autonomous status last week. The college will now focus more on knowledge through industry exposure than the traditional subjective courses. 

Notably, St. Xavier's College in Fort was one of the first colleges in Mumbai to receive the autonomous status and Jai Hind College in Churchgate was autonomous from the curriculum year 2018-2019.
