Student Law Council President Sachin Pawar said that this decision by UGC is a very good move and is welcomed by the students and their parents. However, he added that this change should come as soon as possible.

Recently, the University Grants Commission (UGC) issued instructions to create new rules regarding answer sheet inspection to various universities across the country. The paper checking process in Mumbai University-affiliated colleges varies and due to this, students are facing unnecessary delays in receiving their results.
Hence, UGC directed the colleges to asked the universities to create a uniform guideline for all colleges affiliated to them.
Some colleges use model answer sheets to evaluate the papers whereas other colleges use methods of their choice. In response, the students complained to the Ministry of Human Resources Development, who directed the UGC to take this matter into their hands.
Accordingly, UGC will be circulating a booklet which will direct the universities to create a uniform method to evaluate answer sheets. According to the circular, the universities will have to call a meeting of all the principals of the affiliated colleges and brief them about the identical paper checking method which will be compulsory for all the colleges.
