There have been reports of writers working for television and film in Hollywood going on strike. Because of this, late night programs have been cancelled and instead, repeat telecasts of those programs have been started. As many as 11,500 writers of Writers Guild of America have called this strike and presented their demands.

It is clear that this strike was called against the big studios and production companies and producers in Hollywood. These writers in America have taken to the streets to get their wages increased. The writers have made this demand to big studios like Universal, Paramount, Disney, Netflix, Apple.

Writers are paid like freelancers, so they never receive a solid amount from any studio or producer, they say. These writers have demanded that a solution should be found. They have called this strike to stop this freelance work and provide a solid income to the writers.

Along with this, these writers have also claimed that artificial intelligence - i.e. Siri, Alexa - is being used in many places for story writing in Hollywood. AI can never replace a film or television writer. Therefore, the authors have also demanded that its use should be stopped completely. In 2021 too, these writers staged a similar strike which lasted for almost 100 days. Only time will tell when exactly this strike will end and whether the demands of the writers will be accepted or not.
