The tax raids on Bollywood actor Sonu Sood’s house reportedly ended late last night in Mumbai. As per reports, the officials searched six locations linked to the actor for almost 20 hours.

Meanwhile, the Income Tax department Is reportedly investigating Sonu Sood's property deal with a Lucknow-based real estate company.

"A recent deal between Sonu Sood's company and a Lucknow-based real estate firm is under the scanner. The survey operation has been initiated on allegations of tax evasion on this deal," sources claimed.

However, opposition politicians called it a witch-hunt against the 48-year-old actor, who has been praised as a "messiah of migrants" for his philanthropy during the outbreak of the coronavirus last year, when thousands were left without jobs or shelter and stranded far from home.

Sonu Sood was recently selected as the brand ambassador for the Delhi government's campaign for school children. Discussions are also going on that the action has been taken by the Income Tax Department only a few days after that.

Sonu Sood, 48, came into the limelight during the lockdown after he helped many stranded people to reach their homes. While he was praised for his humanitarian work, the actor was also given a political slant.

However, this is not the first time that Sonu Sood has come under the scanner. Earlier, in June, the Bombay high court (HC) had directed the Maharashtra government to conduct a thorough inquiry against Sonu Sood and other politicians into the supply of COVID-19 essential drugs to citizens.
