As per reports, Bollywood actor Sonu Sood's Mumbai office was raided by the Income Tax Department on Wednesday, September 15. Moreover, a company in Lucknow linked to him was surveyed by the I-T department.

The department has surveyed a total of six places related to the actor so far.

This comes days after Sonu Sood was selected as the brand ambassador for the Delhi government's campaign for school children.

At the Delhi event, Sonu Sood was asked about meeting him with a view to entering politics. Responding to this, he refused the possibility of joining politics, specifically Kejriwal's ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Though he has always declined the rumours of joining politics, speculation went wild after his meeting with the AAP chief and questions swirled around the possibility of the actor contesting next year's Punjab election. In addition, the tax searches in Mumbai were linked by many to that meeting.

Sonu Sood, 48, came into the limelight during the lockdown after he helped many stranded people to reach their homes. While he was praised for his humanitarian work, the actor was also given a political slant.

However, this is not the first time that Sonu Sood has come under the scanner. Earlier, in June, the Bombay high court (HC) had directed the Maharashtra government to conduct a thorough inquiry against Sonu Sood and other politicians into the supply of COVID-19 essential drugs to citizens.
