Comedian and Youtuber Utsav Chakraborty has been accused of sending sexually explicit messages to girls especially minors, on social media. It started as a Twitter thread about a group of Indian men’s obscene behaviour onboard a cruise, which Chakraborty condemned. A Twitter user, then, got on to the thread to talk about the worst-kept secret in the Indian comedy circuit – the sexual abuse faced by women at the hands of the male comics.
She started a thread condemning Utsav Chakraborty’s sexual misconduct with women, especially minor girls. He has been accused of asking minors to send "nudes".
Saw this on my timeline, interesting for you to comment on how Indian men harass women. Irony is still alive and thriving. Did they send unsolicited dick picks or that’s safely only your territory? Or like cry after saying you’ll ruin their career if you tell others? Or will they also blame that on the girls? The harassment they got that is. Hey Utsav. The Twitter user, then, went on to share examples of how Utsav Chakraborty had in fact sent sexually explicit messages to her and to many other women.
A series of #MeToo messages started pouring in and multiple revelations were seen on Twitter.
This isn't the first such case. In February this year, 25-year-old Mumbai slam poet Shamir Reuben was accused of making sexual advances towards minor girls.
