Stunt men should get equal respect even at the award shows: Akshay Kumar

Stunt artists are the ones who work relentlessly and are not even acknowledged. They risk their lives but gives their best shot. Such artists now will get a insurance cover, but thanks to Akshay Kumar who believes that stunt artists and choreographers should get respect at awards ceremony.

Recently Akshay Kumar launched a special insurance scheme for all stunt artists of Hindi film industry. He addressed by saying, “I am a stuntman first before an actor. For 10 years, I worked as a stuntman in Hindi film industry before getting the opportunity of acting. So I know how stuntmen risks their lives to earn their bread. I know what it takes to risk their lives to entertain us. So I think they should get equal respect even at the award shows for their work.”

He seeked help of well known cardiac surgeon Dr Ramakanta Panda of Asian Heart Institute while announcing the scheme which will cover 380 stunt artists who falls in the age group of 18 to 55 with a death compensation of Rs. 10 lakhs.

Panda who happily got ready to support 'Khiladi' Kumar said that the latter asked him to do something for stunt men and also asked to reserve beds for the injured stunt men. “Since stunt artists work across the country, I thought insurance would be a better help. So we manage to collaborate with the insurance company to provide the facilities," added the men.
