For many decades now, we have seen Bollywood celebrities starting businesses and making their own empire, besides ruling hearts through films. But in today's time where setting up a new business is not easy, celebrities join hands with startups of their interest, to ensure their hard-earned money is put to the right use and they make the most of it, both in terms of financial returns and also through passion. They are not only offering monetary assistance but also give these startups a push, with their knowledge and a massive fanbase. 

Here are some celebrities who recently invested in startups, which are doing very well.

Hrithik Roshan – HRX 


Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan’s fitness quotient is not a secret. Ever since the first film, Hrithik’s fans have loved him for both his work and physique, and the actor has only improved and pumped more for each film. To take his obsession to another level, thereby motivating the message to stay fit and healthy is his brand, HRX. This brand started in 2013 with 100 products on Myntra. Valued at over 200 crore, HRX brand now has also ventured into workout regimes, curated exclusively with Cure.fit. As per reports, the brand is expected to make a turnover of 500 crore by 2020.

Deepika Padukone - Epigamia


One of the most popular leading ladies of Hindi cinema, Deepika Padukone, has made a mark with the diverse roles she has played over the years. Besides being an actress, she is also known to be an ace badminton player and has a keen interest in health and fitness. Fueling her passion, Deepika recently chose to step into entrepreneurial shoes by investing in yogurt brand, Epigamia. As a part of Drum Foods International Pvt. Ltd, Deepika will also endorse the brand, which as per 2018, was valued at $102.5 million. Founded by former Wharton alumni Rohan Mirchandani, chef Ganesh Krishnamurthy, Rahul Jain, and Uday Thakkar, in 2008, the brand plans to expand its products to 25 cities, in the next two years.

Malaika Arora and Shahid Kapoor – Sarva

With increasing awareness about Yoga, popular Bollywood celebrities have raised their hands and invested their hard-earned money, to ensure they make profits. Joining the list of investors are Malaika Arora and Shahid Kapoor, who has become a part of Sarva. Founded in 2015, by a Yoga enthusiast, Sarvesh Shashi, this brand has been supported by other popular names like David Giampaolo, Mark Mastrov, Jennifer Anniston, Alex Rodriguez, and others. Estimated at a valuation of around $20Mn, the brand plans to expand its model of open or under-construction studios, with an inspire people to adopt a healthy and happy lifestyle. With Malaika Arora on board, the brand is looking forward to expanding in the digital space.

Karishma Kapoor - BabyOye.com


Back in 2011, Karishma Kapoor, a mother of two, invested in tech startup, BabyOye.com. Co-founded by Arunima SinghDeo, the startup is an e-commerce store for baby and mother care products. It aims at changing the way Indian parents shop and aims at preparing them by offering a comprehensive range of high-quality niche products and services. As per reports, it is said that Karishma owns 26% stake in the company, however, there is no official confirmation regarding the same.

Arjun Kapoor – Foodcloud.in

Despite many films with his name, Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor has not made a big name in yet in the movies. But the man is smart to invest his earnings in a startup, thereby making sure that he proves his entrepreneurial talent. As per recent updates, Arjun invested in a home food delivery startup, Foodcloud.in. Founded by Vedant Kanoi and Sanjhi Rajgarhia, the startup focuses on delivering food made by home cooks, to customers from their kitchens.

Priyanka Chopra - Bumble


One of the smartest actresses in Bollywood is Priyanka Chopra, who has proved herself in many roles. She is an activist, producer, singer, actor and a lot more. The actress who is now ruling the world with her work has invested in a dating app startup named ‘Bumble.’ Founded by Whitney Wolfe Herd, Bumble became the first app to debut in Asia. It was launched in India last December (2018) and allows women to make the first choice in heterosexual matches, thereby driving social change and women empowerment. With over 55 billion users worldwide, Bumble recently launched its own lifestyle magazine called Bumble Mag.

Suniel Shetty – Squats

Veteran actor Suniel Shetty has been a known name amidst the fitness enthusiasts in Bollywood. The actor recently invested a small amount in fitness startup, Squats. Founded in 2016 by Jitendra Chouksey, the startup offers its users information around fitness and nutrition, as a part of an online fitness coaching platform. Valued at over 350 crores, Squats currently runs a mobile app named Fittr, Squats runs a mobile app called Fittr, with more than two lakh downloads, and the venture runs with a membership base of over five lakh users.
