India being a democratic country is losing its ideology of a free country. In which direction is our country heading towards questioned The Bombay High court in a session on Thursday. A country where open death threats are given to the actors to stop the release of a film (Referring to Padmavati), people are attacked for voicing their opinions what are we exactly up to? Asked the Bombay High Court.

As per reports in media,"In which other country do you see threats made to artists and performers? It is distressing to know a person makes a feature film and several others work tirelessly towards it but are unable to release the film for public viewing because of continuous threats... A feature film cannot be released in this country”, said the division bench of Justices Satyaranjan Dharmadhikari and Bharati Dangre addressing to the fringe groups.

Adding further Justice Dharmadhikari said,"Today somebody says, 'I will give a reward if you get a performer, artiste, actress killed'... Even chief ministers are saying they will not allow the release of the film in their states. This is censorship of a different kind. If this is happening to people with financial strength and backing, what about poor people?"

While hearing the matter related to the film Padmavati and other-other controversies around it, the justices of Bombay High Court ascertained that India is reducing to a sorry figure owing to such incidents.

The bench of Justices heard petitions seeking a check on the investigations into the murders of Dabholkar, Pansare, and journalist Gauri Lankesh. The judges also remarked that CBI and state CID has failed in tracing the absconding suspects.
