Veteran actress Shubha Khote at 'Pune International Film Festival' organised by Pune Film Foundation, Department of Cultural Affairs of State Government and Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari and veteran actor Anupam Kher has been awarded this year's ‘PIFF Distinguished Award', while renowned playback singer Kavita Krishnamurthy has been awarded the S.D. Burman Award.


Culture Minister Ashish Shelar will inaugurate the 23rd Pune International Film Festival with the central concept of 'Show Man: Raj Kapoor' at the Ganesh Kala Krida Manch on February 13 at 5 pm. The opening ceremony will feature a performance by percussionist Vijay Chavan and his team as a tribute to the late legendary Zakir Hussain.

The opening film of the festival will be 'Gloria', a production of Italy and Switzerland, directed by Margarita Vicario. The closing ceremony will be held in the presence of Ashish Shelar and the film 'The Room Next Door' directed by Pedro Almodovar, produced by Spain, will conclude the festival, according to the director of the festival Dr. Jabbar Patel said on Tuesday. Film Selection Committee Chairman Samar Nakhate and Abhijit Ranadive were present on the occasion.


Films at the festival will be judged by Marco Beckis (Chilean-Italian director-screenwriter), Margariva Schil (Portuguese film director, Petri Kotwicha-Finish (director and screenwriter), Taminhe Milani (Iranian director), George Stichkovic (Serbia, cinematographer), Sudath Mahadivulveva (Sri Lankan director), Archana (South Indian actress) and Anirudh Roy Chowdhury (Indian director) will be doing it.
