Censor Board of Film Certification’s (CBFC) Chief Pahlaj Nihalani has now claimed that filmmakers should not take their projects to the international film festivals without a proper certification by the CBFC.

CBFC chairperson said that this has been going on for a long time but no action was taken against anyone but henceforth stringent measures would be imposed on the festival specialist producers and directors.

As mentioned in a leading website CBFC chairperson said, “I know that screenings at film festivals favour uncensored content. But that’s not allowed in India. For any film to be screened on any platform and in any format without a censor certificate, a filmmaker needs special permission from the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting.”

It has come to our notice that Indian filmmakers just fly off internationally to different locations in order to gain fame for Indian Cinema. Nihalani warns filmmakers that strict action will be taken if the film is taken to the festivals without CBFC certification.
