Mumbai – Television actor Shruti Ulfat was arrested for publishing a video on social media, which showed her posing with a cobra. The video went viral and she was arrested under sections of 9, 48, and 49 of Indian Forest Act. The Borivali court later released Ulfat on a bail bond of Rs. 5000.

Shruti Ulfat, Pearl Puri, and two production managers Nitin Solanki and Utkarsh Bali were remanded to judicial custody till 22 February, but were later released on bail.

A few months ago, Ulfat's serial ‘Nagarjun…Ek Yoddha’ serial was aired on television channel Life OK. According to the production house Beyond Dreams Entertainmnet, the video had been shot for the same. As Ulfat's video went viral, she was accosted by forest officials who then arrested four people including her,  for manhandling the cobra. The production company on the other hand, refuted the charge and told the officials that the video had been made with special effects.

To check the authenticity of the claim, forest officials downloaded the video and sent it to the directorate of forensic sciences' labaratory in Kalina for scrutiny. The lab report received on 17 January concluded that Ulfat had used a real cobra in the video. This led to the actor's arrest and a day's police custody. All the accused are now out on bail.
