On Sunday, May 9, hot and humid weather conditions were reported in Mumbai. Moreover, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted cloudy skies for the coming week along with dry weather conditions.

According to reports, on Sunday, the relative humidity recorded by IMD Colaba and Santacruz observatories was 89 per cent and 65 per cent respectively. Meanwhile, the maximum temperature recorded at Colaba was 34.6 degrees while at Santacruz it was 34.4 degrees. It was slightly higher than a day earlier when Colaba recorded 33.8 degrees and Santacruz recorded 34.2 degrees.

Meanwhile, earlier on March 25, Mumbai recorded a temperature of 38.7 degrees Celsius, the season’s highest and 5.2 degrees above normal. The IMD further stated that warm conditions are likely to continue in the Konkan region, including Mumbai.

In addition, this happens to be the fourth time this month that Mumbai’s maximum temperature crossed the 38 degrees’ mark, after touching 38.1 degrees’ on March 4 and 38.2 degrees on March 5. The maximum daytime temperature in March last year was 37.5 degrees Celsius on March 17.

Furthermore, amidst the humid weather conditions, citizens have been asked to avoid venturing out of the house unless an emergency during noon-time. Moreover, wearing goggles, a hat or usage of an umbrella is recommended. In addition, health experts have warned that people should consume water from time to time in this weather in order to avoid heatstroke.
