Mumbai Weather Update: IMD Predicts Further Dip In Temperature In Coming Days

Mumbai this morning, January 24, witnessed second coolest day of this season with minimum temperature dipping to lower than 15 degrees.

On Tuesday, January 24, Mumbai's Santacruz observatory recorded a minimum temperature of 14.8 degrees Celsius and Colaba observatory recorded 17.6 degrees Celsius. 

The minimum day temperatures recorded by Colaba and Santacruz weather stations were 4 below normal, whereas the night temperatures were 17.5 and 15.6 degrees Celsius, respectively.

In addition to this, it is pertinent to note that for the second consecutive day, Mumbai remained cooler than Nashik and Pune during the daytime. However, night temperatures in these two cities were lower than Mumbai.

Experts have attributed the cause for this to the strong cold breeze. Mumbai on Monday, January 23, and Tuesday, January 24, recorded daytime maximum temperature at 26.5 degrees Celsius. While Pune and Nashik which stood at 31.2 degrees Celsius and 28.5 degrees Celsius respectively.

In comparison, Pune and Nashik recorded night temperatures of 11.7 degrees Celsius and 11 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Moreover, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted a further drop in temperature in the coming days. Mumbai will see foggy, misty mornings from January 24 to 26, with the minimum temperature hovering around 16 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature at around 28 degrees Celsius.

The city’s coldest morning this winter was on January 15, when the minimum temperature dipped to 13.8 degrees Celsius.
