On Friday morning, a dead dolphin was found on the shore of Juhu beach in Mumbai.

According to the report by the Times of India, an official from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) stated it was the locals around the said area that saw the succumbed dolphin on the Juhu beach and alerted the authorities of the local civic area. It was then that the said authorities apprised the forest department about the same.

The official is reported to have further elaborated on the fact that the forest department then got rid of the carcass. It is claimed that it is the forest department who would be well-versed regarding the species of the dolphin.

Renu Hansraj who is said to be the local corporator, spoke to the PTI, stated the account. The corporator is said to have spoken about the specie's size which was claimed to be smaller than usual. She has stated the dolphin found dead was smaller than those that are usually found on the shore in the past.

The report further elucidated that in the past year, some dead dolphins have washed ashore. However, these were spotted on the west coast in separate spots in Mumbai.

Additionally, it is also stated that whilst the dolphins look like fishes, they are in fact marine mammals.
