As of January 2022, there are 4.09 crore vehicles in Maharashtra. Interestingly, of these, 42.13 lakh vehicles are in Mumbai itself.

According to the latest reports, amid the alluring prospects offered by the Maharashtra government, there has been a considerable shift towards electric vehicles. It has been reported that 46,040 e-vehicles registered across the state as of December 2021.

Based on accounts, in the past few years since 2017, the registration for e-vehicles has catapulted considerably across Maharashtra. On the other hand, in 2017-18, 1,418 e-vehicles were registered. This was followed by 4,958 in the next year and 5,050 in 2019-20 in different RTOs across the state.

Furthermore, during 2020- 21, there were 7,544 such e-vehicles were registered. Narratives go on to elucidate that as of January 2022, there are 4.09 crore vehicles in Maharashtra. Interestingly, of these, 42.13 lakh vehicles are in Mumbai itself.

In the city’s attempt to offer impetus to e-vehicles, a college campus in Mumbai's Kandivali has now set up an electric vehicle (EV) charging station. The EV charging station was inaugurated at Kandivali Education Society’s (KES) B K Shroff College Of Arts and M H Shroff College Of Commerce.

This charging station can reportedly charge up to four two-wheelers at a time. For this, the college administration first took a survey. Herein at least 400 students saying they intend to buy an electric two-wheeler soon.
