According to the latest reports, the Maharashtra government has imposed a ban on fishing between June 1 to July 31. This is reportedly a standard procedure to curtail the capture of marine life that comes near the shore for breeding.

Based on accounts, this decision was proclaimed recently under the Marine Fishing Regulation Act 1981 which prohibits machined fishing within 12 nautical miles from Maharashtra's coast.

An official was quoted in narratives elaborating on how every year, such a ban is imposed by the state government. The official added that if a trawler operator openly violates the said ban, from June onwards a considerable fine will be imposed on the violators.

Amid this ban during the monsoon season, on Saturday, May 21, night a light drizzle was seen in considerable areas of Mumbai. These included the likes of areas such as DadarSewriMatungaand Parel. In addition to these, even adjoining areas like Navi Mumbai registered rains.

Weather officials elucidated that a low-level clouding was seen that resulted in the showers, reports stated. However, this phenomenon cannot be termed pre-monsoon showers yet, experts claimed.

On the other hand, the Regional Meteorological Centre, Mumbai's weather forecast for the next 24 hours predicts a "Generally cloudy sky with possibility of light Rain / Drizzle." With a maximum forecasted temperature of 35 degrees Celsius, the minimum predicted temperature is 28 degrees Celsius.
